How does the car run? If you're happy with it, the HEI is an excellent distributor. If necessary, you can buy upgrade kits for it through Summit racing from Accel, Pertronix, Summit's own make and others. There are many other high erformance distributors that will work as well...MSD, Accel, Mallory. If nothing else, call Summit and ask their techs...tell them what you have, what you want out of it and they'll give you good recommendations.
My engine setup is similar to yours. I replaced my stock HEI with one by Proform. They are carried by Summit Racing and others. I purchased one with the 50,000 volt coil. I also increased the curve by replacing the springs and weights, nothing like a little tweaking. I also updated my spark plug wires at the same time and have been very happy with the setup ever since.
