I believe you can pretty much forget the Pertronics. I think Jacobs Electronics makes one and there's an HEI type distributor available from some of the resto houses with tach drive. They're not inexpensive no matter which way you go...in the $500 territory. You may consider using the Pertronics conversion kit. Not expensive and they have an excellent reputation.

I believe Mallory makes a three wire electronic conversion for your stock distributor. No drilling required. Should run about $160.00.

I know there is a unit advertised in the Ecklers catalog.

You should be able to pick one up at any reputable speed shop and pick one up a little cheaper than Ecklers.

There is also a single wire unit by I think Mallory that will keep your dist. looking stock.

Pertronix makes an HEI conversion kit that bolts up inside your orginal tack -distributor. I installed one in my 73' last year it has been one of the best investments on my motor. The only way you can tell it's not stock is there will be two wires coming out of the bottom of the distributor, insted of one. The kit cost about $150.00 when you by the high output coil with it. You can order it from summit , jegs , or mid america. The one I bought is called the ignitor II. You can also use it with a msd box. hope this helps. |saluteflag|

MSD makes a great distributor that allows use of the gear-driven tach.
