Can anyone recommend a drop base air cleaner that will work with an Edelbrock AFB with an electric choke?

I am planning on installing Vortec heads with an Edelbrock Intake. I currently have less tha 1/2" clearance and the new intake is 5/8" taller than the current Performer.  All this with a 2" filter element.

The K&N drop base air cleaner states that it does not work with the electric choke.

Thanks in advance for the help. and I will post before and after 1/4 mile times after I change the heads.

i'm into the same thing.   Motor to be back from machine shop Friday.  I've got the Vortec heads and the shorter Professional Products Vortec intake, keeping nearly new edlebrock Q-Jet.We will see, but it looks to fit under the hood with the stock air breather.

I am really looking at building a custom air box that reaches back to the windshield with a custom air cleaner(s).

Any input on drop bases, or custom air box designs.  Maybe even a carb cap that turns 90 degrees to accommodate my custom box?

Check some sites that offer supercharger kits. They usually need some kind of bonnet for the carburetor that allows for a remote air cleaner location.

the GM dropped base's don't fit either, the choke on a AFB and the width of the carb is the problem, haven't tryed it but maybe see if it clears if you cut the area around the choke out of the base and then fab a closure on the base, use a junk base to see if it works.
