Hi All,
Thinking of adding a little more punch (torque) to the L48 in my 78. I was looking at the edelbrock power packages. Does anyone have any experience or information on these, (it is a package of heads, intake lifters and cam all supposed to match for your engine.
The other question I have is will it fit under the hood. I believe the performer will as it uses the 2101 intake but the numbers are a bit better with the Performer RPM, but I think I read on here you will have clearance problems with that intake.
Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Brad,
This would be a good package that you will definately feel and hear a difference with. Only thing that would enhance this package better would be to raise the compression. (Bore & Pistons).
RPM has a couple of models that won't fit Corvettes. They spell this out in their descriptions. I think one of the is a 7101 and the other are the air gap models where there is an opening under the carb plenium to allow cooler air flow.
I know their are some members running RPM intakes. LukesVettes (Paul was one of them before he was stricken with crate frenzy.
You can check out all of the RPM models here as a refence. SUMMIT RACING
I have a 2101 intake that I bought as a 3701. It was listed incorrectly on EBAY. I knew it was wrong when it arrived. I am waiting on a 3701 to arrive anyday now. (This is the EGR model of the 2101.)
I had plans to post it in the For Sale stuff on the site. I am also going to put a set of chrome valve covers and chrome thermostat housing with it. If you would be interested I would take $70.00 for all and you pay the cheapest shipping cost from my home (Greensburg, In. 47240) to your doorstep. Sadly the intake came from Il. to start with.
Take care, hope some of this helps you... Tux...

Vette(s): 2010 Corvette Engine 400 horse 435 FPT,ghost flamed,chrome block,rack&pinion,hooker headers/pipes,lowered,Tremec5spd, 3.73,'67 hood,'72 sld t-tops, cstm logo seats, dualquad 500cfm 383/435hp stroker.VPB susp frt and rear, 1980 CUSTOM CARGO TRAILER
I was looking to do the same and the Edelbrock guys worked with me and we added a polished dual 4-barrel set up to my 383 stroker. The previous manifold I had required me to get the '67 hood I have but the Edelbrock product is low siloutte (sp) and rocks! These guys know vettes. Have fun!
Are you keeping the emission controls on the engine? If not, then I would suggest taking a look at the Edelbrock E-Tec (Vortec style) aluminum heads w/ Performer (non RPM) Vortec intake. It's a very good breathing cylinder head and will fit under the hood with a dropped base air cleaner. Just another suggestion.

Hello tux.
Thank you very much for the offer but I have one already here I got off e-bay a few months ago but have not put on yet. But come to think of it I think it has the port for EGR. Which I am not sure I want to keep so will probably be putting it up on here or ebay once I decide on the edelbrock package.
Hope your new one gives you performance you are looking for.
And thanks for the advice I'll check and see how many more $$ they would want to make those modifications at the same time. I figure I might as well be really broke as opposed to mostly broke.

Hi Sarge,
Good idea
I was thinking the emission stuff would somehow get lost in the modifications. And I have read good stuff on the e-tec heads

Well I called Edelbrock to start the process of getting the right package and I wish I had gotten the name that RUCRUZIN talked to. The guy I talked to was no help at all and basically said they had no package that would fit under the hood. He was no help and seemed like he could not get off the phone fast enough.
Oh well lots of other manufacturers out there.

Vette(s): '75 Stingray Coupe - 350 Bored, Edelbrock Alum. Heads, Performer Intake/ Carb., Harland Sharp Roller Rockers, MSD Ign., XE Comp. Cam, Pete Jackson Gear Drive, Hooker Headers, Side Pipes, TH400, 3000 RPM Stall and 3.55 Rear Gears
I have the Performer RPM package and I like it, fits fine. With a different cam and 3000 stall. It gets to power range pretty quick. Haven't had a chance to run it hard yet with the stall, but I am thinking about 1.7 sec. on the 60 foot time.
I will be changing hoods though, got to have more. I will be selling the intake and carb. this summer.
I can really feel the power but I tend to believe more air and gas will enhance this set up.
