I just started noticing a hesitation when starting out on my 1982 crossfire.
It has stalled and when i get it started i get a little blue smoke and then the car runs ok. Is this where they coined the name missfire.
I have replaced the plugs, air filters and it still does it. Any thoughts is there something feeding it bad info?

Things to check:
Fuel pressure/Fuel pump
Fuel filter
Dist.(coil-module-cap-rotor)
TPS(throttle position sensor)
Oil pressure
Really sounds like a fuel problem, but a problem with the dist. is also very likely. I would start with a fuel pressure test, or change the fuel filter. The filter is easy enough to change, and it may solve the problem.
If it starts & runs OK after a "stall", I wouldn't think the dist. would be the source, but you never know.
The TPS tells the 'puter how much 'gas' you 're giving it, so if it's out of whack, the 'puter may not see that you're trying to get going, and therefore won't give the injectors the signal they need .
On most elect. fuel inj. engines, the 'puter has to see a minimum amount of oil pressure before it will energize the fuel pump. I'm not up on the specifics of the infamous "miss-fire, won't-fire", but that could cause this problem.
About the only thing you can really do without a scan-tool, and other testing equip. is change the filter.
Does the "Check Eng." lite come one before it stalls, or does it come on at anytime while you're driving? If so, then you need to scan the 'puter to see if any "trouble codes" are stored. If you don't have a scan tool, then you might need to find a reputable 'Vette shop in your area to do this for you. The problem is, once you turn the key off, the codes go away, unless it's a "hard fault", in which case you would have a drivability problem all the time.
I hope some of this gives you an idea.
.....What did the plugs you took out look like?(condition-wise)
