as i get further into it, the $$$ go up ,but what the hell ,i`m in it this far might as well build what I want. When the headers and side pipes were delivered i went nuts. Awesome look.Anyway, get going ,oh but then again you have a long winter ahead, sorry about that.I hope to have her back onthe road by mid Jan. Darn Holidays got in the way. That`s ok though no rush.
good luck
The assembly lube of choice is easily aquired.
It is in many different name brands, but always known as highpressure engine assembly lube.
But there is a difference. There are two forms. One is a very thick liquid. The other is more like petrolum jelly.
I prefer the liquid due to the fact it is easier to apply and deal with. But that's only when the engine is going to be started soon. When the engine is not going to be started for a while, use the thicker lube. This way it stays where you put it. It can stay there for many many months. Rebuilders use this so the lube is there when the engine is finally installed.
It is easier to get dirt in the thicker lube. Be carefull in either case. Dirt and grit is the biggest killer of a rebuild or repair job. Keep it CLEAN!
some times I envy you southern boys VETTERBOB, especially when I have a foot and a half of snow in my back yard and it's snowing right now. want some?
Ken, thanks for the advice. will get the thick lube as I'm sure it will not be done before March. won't put it back in the car before it gets warmer. hate working on cars out in the cold. I will be doing the rebuild in my basement. hope I can get it up the stairs when I'm finished.

I too like the idea of a 383 with a little more power than the original motors. I just received an early christmas present.

Oh, apologies to the purists, my bad...
