Asking for any and all help on the stamped in numbers on my block.
These are the numbers on the front right portion of the block
V0212CMJ
I understand that V is for Flint and the 0212 stands for Feb. 12
Does anyone know what the CMJ stands for?
Thank you,
JB
Scott

I came up with the same info..
with the date and casting we can narrow it down

Hey, Thanks for all of the valued input. I'm new here and am very impressed with the responses and welcomes.
Here we go...
Casting number is 3970010
350- 1969 - 1980 2 or 4 blt (Have not had the pan off "yet")
327 - 1969 2 blt. (NOT)
302 - 1969 2 blt Truck or Industrial (NOT)
Based on the front right stamping it certainly appears this is a basic 350 block from 69-80, I would like to know if it is the original block.(I stand corrected It is Not the original as the VIN number is not even close) From the enormous pile of reciepts I recieved with the car I see that the previous owner had this block punched .020 over bored and .010/.010 cut off the crank. It has Edelbrock Aluminum heads, intake, and carb. HEI Ignition and stock exhaust manifolds.
She runs like a top albiet a tad rich. Like I mentioned this one is a great driver 1972 with a 1980 front clip (Go Figure?) Frame off and "Literally Everything" on the chassis, braking system, cooling system and suspension is new. Fresh engine, new T400 trans, and new rear end.
Just put twin electric fans on it, and fabbed up a air dam to direct the air through the rad. Almost running too cool now. The fans are programable, so I still need to tweek the on/off settings to work with the 180 deg thermostat.
Again, Thank you all for the help and directions to a really helpful site.
