Brian's got friends?! (jest messin wid ya!! )

The two freeze plugs/three is the difference between a 400 and the other small blocks. I've never heard it had anything to do with four bolt mains. But, then again...what do I know?

31248GM is simply the casting number of the intake. I don't see that number listed in my casting book, but that don't mean squat!Adams' Apple38959.8057291667

New information on the origin of the small block in my vette.

Thank you everyone...Very cool site.........

JB/jbova2,

hecko I was reading your query and I have a book that has all these desination..

Your  CMJ refers to the following:

  Chevy  '75/'76   350 145hp L65 H in VIN

  Impala  '74     350  155hp LM-1 L "  "

     "    '75     35 0  145hp L65  H  "  "

   Impala  '80    305  155hp LG4  H   "  "

The '74 350 Eng was in a Police car

The 80 Impala would be an '80 CA. passenger car,due to the non certifcation of 350 engines in CA.in 1980..

All the engine were in front of T350 trans...

Police Eng also had 4 BBL. Carb, along with the 80 305 engine, hence 10 hp higher..

I hope this helps in identifing your engine.....
