No I never found the EGR valve.  If you have a picture I would be interested in seeing it.  That would  be great if it isn't to much trouble, thanks!

About the "vettejuice" looks to good to be true.  Just pour it in an away you go.  I wonder if anyone has tried it.  I'm sure you will find out.  As long as I can get the 110 I'm happy as can be and so is my vetteSmile.
I agree with Chips...try the highest octane you can get, and retard the timing. You have a high compression engine...it won't run very well on lower octane fuels without "pinging". Also, the advance curve may need to be slowed down a bit.
Forget about timing lights...the only thing they are really usefull for is seeing where it is once you get it running right. That way, you have a "baseline" to start with from then on.
Check out THIS THREAD ,and THIS ONE. There is some very solid info one timing an engine to run without pinging, or being hard to start hot.
i just re read those threads...

damn i'm a dork !!!

Ping is caused by a hot spot in the cylinder.  This is a result of heat.  There are several sources.   One is carbon deposits.  The carbon holds heat and lights the fuel.

I know the engine we are talking about is newly rebuilt...   but for those older engines..

dont forget to use the internal "steam cleaning" method that Ken and I discussed at length in the forums a while back to remove carbon deposits

I asked around and finally found a Sunoco gas station that sells the 110 octane.  It's only about 25 minutes from my house and is a nice drive there.  On the pump it says "leaded race fuel, off road use only".  The guys who told me about the place said they wouldn't pump it into the car only into an approved gas container, or wouldn't let me pump it into the car.  The guy who was there had no problem putting directly into my car.  Sometimes being a girl helpsWink

Someone else told me Sunoco sells the 110 online, said they ship in 5 gallon containers.  I never followed up because I found it locally.
