Vette(s): 1972 coupe/350 cid/mild cam/4 spd/20 ft. paint (looks perfect from 20 ft.), but it sure runs nice.

I'll be pulling the cylinder heads off soon and having an experienced set of eyeballs inspect the cylinder walls for wear. That's my "crossroads"....If there's little wear, I'll get an aftermarket set of hi-perf. heads, new intake and carb.....I like the cam presently installed and it's relatively new. The alternative is a much longer project. My question is:  Can you remove the block without re-installing the heads and intake? I'm referring to the plate bolted on to the intake holes where the carb goes and hoisting it up.  Thanks, boys!

Vette(s): 1982 Black over red, doing a resto.

If you use a grade 8 bolts and washers, I have used the bolt holes where the head bolts go. I used a cable sling with short bolts. A chain can be used also. Just be careful!

You don't even need grade 8 bolts.  Regular quality bolts will work fine.

Just make sure the tree limb is big enought to support the weight or wife's back

Just a Ha Ha . Seriously if using a garage rafter or something other than a engine hoist - be carefull of load capacity.

Thanks, Al....engine hoist is the only option. Especially the way my lucks been lately.
