[QUOTE=dnv]TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES!!!!
A digital camera is your best friend so that you have an aid to remember what goes where when the engine comes back.

Will just got done with the disconnect process the only thing left are the engine mount bolts. I could turn the torque with my hands that was nice. That was great idea of taking the plugs out. I would had eventually figured that out after I kick the dog and gave the wife a wtf look. As for taking pictures yes I did take pictures of the various brackets but vacuum hoses? The previous owner (Bubba) has so much stuff disconnected it was not worth the time. My plan is to take the engine out on Sunday. Then in the next few months I am going to re-dew the whole front. During that time I will research on whether to keep the 327 or fine a 70 corvette block or just do a create engine. I will let you guys know how my Sunday goes.

Good job!! Keep us up to date on your progress!
As for keeping the 327...why the heck not? They make a really excellent base for a build-up...remember, the 375hp fuelie was a 327!

I agree with Joel and Luke on the 327. IMO, GM never made a better engine.

perhaps a bit of topic, but what are the main differences in those engines and our stock ones beside some cubic inches ???

About the 327 I heard from some that the 327 was good engine that it had a higher rpm then the 350. The numbers say that it is a 275HP from a 68 Camaro. But I had somebody tell me that it had 283 heads on it. Something to do with 2 crowns instead of 4? I did check with Paragon and they Had heads for 400.00 each I might just do that. Right now I don't plan on doing anything with the engine till Nov. When I do put the engine in I was going to take the car and the engine to the vette shop and let them hook everything up. Just to make sure it gets done right.
If you want to keep the 327, that's great. Does it have camel hump (fuelie) heads? Personally, I would get the numbers off the engine, find out what car line it came in and sell it on the appropriate forum or E-Bay it. Then buy a crate motor. If you are not looking for big horsepower, a GM 300 horse 350 runs about 1,500.00 for a long block with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. That's what I did for the 69 and I am extremely happy with it. You add the water pump, fuel pump, intake, carb and distributor and off you go. Runs on regular gas (That will help the wallet). If you are looking for big numbers, there are plenty of builders that sell crate motors for almost any application. The piece of mind you will have over a rebuilt engine with no warranty.
OK the engine has been removed. I did not have any problems with the removable except I had to take off the headers. I did sweat the load on the transmission its still in there for some reason I thought it would stay up. Oh well its coming out today. I can't wait to start on the front end and get that mess clean up. With the engine out there is so much room to work in. I did buy that front end video from Van Steel with that things should go well. I will keep you posted on my progress.
