Recently completed the trans swap, had issues with brake/stop lights, signal indicators, bright lights in reverse order and da erl pressa gage pegged.

Took everything apart, cleaned all connections prior to di electric grease application and re installation.  Everything is back to normal, but da erl pressa gage in at 2 o'clock past the mid line on the gage and when I start the vehicle, it peggs to the far right.  Tried the old and tried method of thumping on the gage, but that didn't help as I suspected.

Not quite sure where the sensor is on the vehicle.  I suspect it is on the driver side infront of the oil filter, but I am not certain.  It is supposed to be a tan wire in the circuit, but this car has been rewired, I don't know how many times, before me.

Any ideas what this could be, electrical, wiring, gage, etc.Ouch

Thanks for any advice in da meantime!

Happy Easter to all!

The sender unit on your car is up around the distributor. Or at least that's where it should be. Your's may have been put back down by the filter.
Does the gauge peg out by just turning the key on, or does it have to be running? I fit does it just turning the key on, I'd suspect a grounded signal wire from the sending unit. If it only does it with it running, then it may be the gauge(including the circuit board), OR the sender unit.
With the key ON(no start) the gauge should go to "0". With the key OFF, the gauge will normally just stay where ever it is at the time, until the key is turned back on.

It pegs when you turn the key on!

If you just put the trans in, I would suspect the sender is by the dist. and when the trans was bolted to the engine you pinched the wire to the sending unit between the trans and engine block.

If so, don't just cut the wire and splice it back together.  Loosen the bell housing and pull the wire out.  You don't want alingmnet problems between the trans and engine.   Then repair the wire.

I will check it out!  Does this oil pressure unit look like a typical sending unit?  The upside down canister look?

Thanks,

Yes it does.  It should be right next to the intake manifold, on the top of the block, just to the side and behind the dist.
