I need some direction. I Have my 71 0n the road after lots of work but I guess I'm not finnished yet. The cooling fan roars when I give it the gas. Its very bad! I replaced clutch with no difference. I have a seven blade fan that the stock one. Any one have the same trouble or better yet a cure.

You mean thats not Henry in the Vette???

Henry, I have a 454 with 7 blades, and it makes a pretty good noise when I get into the gas, but I am just assuming that is the nature of the fan, moving air with all those blades going at a faster rpm. My clutch is ok and the blades are in good shape, so I would say that there is nothing you can really do. But don't take my word for it, let a few more people answer your question, before making a decision. Sorry, I know this didn't help much, but just wanted you know that mine made the same noise, and I had no problem with it. Jimmie

it will do that. the fan starts off fast as the engine picks up speed the will just go along with it and not drain as much HP as a fixed unit would. i had to replace mine with a discount store unit and it's noisier than my pipes, when i rev it quickly. the engine will be at 4000 and the fan will be about 600. don't worry too much about it. if you cau move the fan by hand while the engine is not running, it's okay.

Hi Guy's
I had a chance to borrow a GM clutch and try it. It reduced the noise by half. Its still there but now I can hear the mufflers and it jet roar is not as bad.
Thanks for the imput.
