I am going to have to either have my motor rebuilt or put a new one in, If I am going to put a new one in I am thinking of the crate fastburn 385, the one thing I have heard was to check for clearance at the hood due to the intake on the 385 is about 1-3/4" taller than stock..  Anyone know of this being done- My vette is a 1977 with the L48. Thanks

Lenny,
It might work with a drop base air cleaner. Someone around here will know for sure. Welcome to C3VR

You might do a search on intakes or hoods to see if any past threads talk about this combination.
Worst case is you get a new hood to match the engine.

Lenny:

I got my crate motor from Jegg's and those guys were great.  You don't have to get it from Jegg's, but I had a clearance issue with my motor and it is not the fastburn 385, but the guy pulled their information and made several recommendations, drop base cleaner, intake, etc. and all went well.

You will enjoy the difference with that under your hood.

Good Luck,  Gurtz

I think I have decided to keep it simple and put the 350/290 HP in it,,, hopefully it will still be enjoyable ,, just not quite as much HP as I wanted.
