We get about the same gas mileage. Sometimes I can get 7 mpg if I baby it.
As for a time at the track, I set a track record....the slowest.
Corvettes International invited me for a test & tune day. I had always shifted at about 6000 rpm but noticed on my dyno sheet that I was making my maximum torque at 4200 rpm. Naturally, I wanted to impress those C5s and C6s so I decided to shift at 4200. That was a big mistake. The car broke traction, slammed the left side of my head against the window then the right side of my head against the rear view mirror, breaking it off. I was all over the track, missing the wall by inches. All I could do was hold on but it scared me so bad that I never touched the gas after finally getting control. I went through the 1/4 mile at 40.8 MPH.
I just thank God that I didn't have the NOS activated.
Take my advice and don't try yours with street tires. If I ever get my nerve back I might try mine again but not with street tires.

crazy ride , glad you and the car are safe. you should go to one of those drag race schools for some pointers. I found it useful. do you have a 4 speed ,if so i can understand it getting away from you. I have a T400 auto that i shift manually. it`s a wicked ride , but real fun once you get the hang of luanching it.
what is you max torque? theoretically mine is 486ft/lbs @ 3800rpm, i haven`t dyno tested it yet, still fine tuning.
In regards to your NOS , if you don`t want to use it for driving you can always divert it to purge out the side vents. I sawe this on a vette and thought it looked awesome. imagine revving her up and a cloud of smoke pours out the side vents.too cool. I`m considering it myself

OH YEAH !
That's the kind of stuff that car guys dreams are made of gentlemen
. Most of us will never have your problems in this lifetime. Like, too much power, or too low an MPG, because of that one insurmountable obstacle, too little $
.....
. So please keep those stories and pictures coming brothers. aceinthehole 2007-08-01 10:38:07

Bob,
I also have an automatic that I shift manually. My transmission is beefed up and has a shift kit that will snatch a knot in your neck but like you, I prefer to shift it. I guess it's because of a spinal cord tumor that has taken most of the sensation out of my legs and I can no longer handle a 4 speed. it's the closest thing to a manual shift.
My engine has 512 ft/lbs of torque at 4200 RPM. I have never hit the nitrous and probably never will after my scare at the strip and I'm way too old to be purging.
