Vette(s): 1973 Corvette Stingray Coupe VIN 1Z37J3S418986 350 L-48 Automatic T-Tops St. Louis Assembly, 18,986th car built in 1973, Paint = 976 Mille Miglia Red, Interior = 425 Dark Red Vinyl (Ox Blood)
Man this is so COOL!  The previous owner did say that the car WAS purchased in California!  Spent maybe 20 years or so in Cali then slowly made its way down to Southern Wisconsin.  I have TONS of paperwork and receipts...I am almost positive I have the contract from the selling dealer...I will see if I can dig up for you.

For the paint tag:
Chevrolet H28
Trim 425
976 Paint

Since we're on Tags, here's another with a bunch of numbers:

So that's all good news - H28 is a March 28th body build date. Body build months are a little screwy compared to the rest of the system because It starts in August of the previous year, so H = March. Trim 425 is Dark Red vinyl and 976 paint is Mille Miglia red, looked to me from your pic your car is red/red. So back to your engine build date, 032 for March 2nd is possible but I really think 0320 for a March 20th is more likely, either way your dates line up well. That last pic you posted is the Fed Certification label, numbers at the bottom are gross vehicle weight rating and the 3/73 date on the top right corner states the car was certified to the fed standards on March '73 which also lines up with your build date. Have fun as you find more pieces of the puzzle !! Check out this website for more tech info and numbers stuff, www.73spot.com, the guy did a pretty good job and it's all about '73 Corvettes.

Engine assy date of March 20th would be correct, since the block was cast on March 16th. Body build date of H28 would put final assembly on March 29th. In fact, VIN # 189985 was the last car off the line on March 28th, which means YOUR car was the FIRST car off the line on March 29th. All of the dates line up perfectly for the car. That engine/block is original to the car. Now....dig deeper, and see if the trans/differential/alternator/distributor etc. etc. is original. See what a can of worms you opened up, Jason? LOL

Sadly the fuel pump is not original. Had to get it replaced when I bought the car Because it was leaking. 😭 I will try to track down trans/alternator/diff etc. after the holiday. There are some numbers on the quadrajet. Going to write those down and research as well. I know it's original to vehicle but would be cool to know more about it...where/when built, sequence maybe. VMan- did you see my other post about the carb and hoses?

DWA175 - Is there a organization state-by-state that provides a matching numbers service for Corvettes?  If so, what would I need to do to get it done?  What did you receive at the end of the inspection?  Does going through this process make a vehicle more valuable?

Thank you!
