Does anyone know if there is a GM fi system that will work with a BB. I would like to maintain the existing hood. I know there are aftermarket
available but that will probably require the L88 hood. Has anybody had
any experience with this mod?

GM Performance makes the Ram Jet 502 EFI system (GM part #12499249). They say it's only 1/2" higher than the standard big block with a high rise manifold, Holley carburetor and air cleaner, so whether it will require a different hood is unknown to me.
The information says it's "ideally suited for use in street rod, street machines applications." So take that for what it's worth...GM doesn't say anything about specific fit in any car.
You might also consider the Edelbrock EFI. It's got an excellent reputation and is somewhat lower in profile compared to stock carbureted systems.
From an aesthetic and subjective perspective, the GM system looks like an EFI...the Edelbrock, regardless of being an excellent system, looks like a stock carbureted system outside of the fuel rails.

Thanks for the info FI. I will pursue the pricing and compatibility issue. The
old quad carb is going to need rebuilding and I live a 5180 ft. I may have to get it running and do further research. I wonder if any members have
done this already.

I can see why you're interested in fuel injection living at that altitude. Getting EFI will go a long way toward good drivability wherever you're at.
I have a car in the rebuild shop right now (not a Vette...a '70 Avanti), and it received new GM Performance crate engine (350/330 hp) plus an Edelbrock EFI. It's still being worked on so it will be a while before it's driveable so I can't comment on it, but the speed shop loves the Edelbrock over all aftermarket EFI systems as the most cost effective and best performing and reliable.
Whatever system you go with, I'm sure you'll love it over a carbureted system.
