Hi everyone,
First forum participation....
I´ve rebuilt most of my ´72 engine (350ci standard). Since I live in Argentina, it´s been quite a nightmare to find many parts. My question refers to the cylinder heads gaskets. Does any of you know what the original specs are? My C3´s comp is originally 8.5:1 and when rebuilding it we found the gaskets where as thin as a soda can! Is this the original one or has could it have been replaced to achieve a 9:1 ratio?
Thanks in advance
PS: How do I post my vette picture????

Hi Gaston ,,, the thin gaskets are probably original ,fortunately there are much better replacements available today such as felpro etc. GM engines were equipped with the embossed steel gasket such as you found when you disassembled yours . Welcome aboard

Felpro 1003 are good gaskets but you should know they recommend drilling two 7/16" holes into the block to help cooling in the heads. Older engines did not have the holes but newer motors do (not sure when they started drilling them but my 73 didn't have them).

Gaston,
There are several threads that offer help in adding images to postings and/or signatures. Here's the most recent one I found: 'HELP THE DUMMY'
If you have any problems or questions feel free to get in touch.
BTW - I forgot to mention that the image(s) need to be copied to an internet server, they can't be accessed from your PC.

Thanks for your reply and help...you see, its not easy to get qualified advice down here (Argentina)....I´d say there are only about 20-30 corvettes (any year), making it far more difficult to rebuild. So I guess I will be asking for more info, trusting your experience and passion to these absolutely fantastic piece of art..
Happy new year!!!
