Ok, I'm starting a new thread that will chart my progress. I put it in the engine category, but if the moderators want to move it since I'll be mentioning other stuff (transmission, radiator, etc), feel free!

I just placed my order from www.enginefactory.com. I ordered the 375HP engine, added a flywheel for the 4 speed, starter, and HEI distributor that has a gear drive for my tach. I could have gotten it delivered by July 21, but I told them to get it to me the week of August 7 - my schedule is insane until then. Things to do before the engine arrives (this is off the top of my head - feel free to make additions ):

1. remove old engine

2.remove transmission and have rebuilt

3. pressure test readiator/clean or replace

4. get all new hoses

5. get new U-joints

6. clean-up engine bay - maybe paint...

7. check front suspension components for anything that needs work now

So there's my preliminary list. I'm sure it will grow. I'll post lots of pictures along the way. Hope to have a borrowed lift this weekend so I can pull the engine out.

John, I'd add checking your trailing arms and rear wheel bearings while you've got everything apart. Also the differential drive shaft yokes end play and pinion play which you can do while the diff is installed.

No use putting a new power plant and gearbox in if the rest is gonna fly apart as soon as you put power to the rear wheels.

It's a good start. 

Just remember, that 375 HP motor is not 375 unless you use the same carb, intake, exhaust as they used during the testing.  It could be very close or the same with a different set up, and it could be much less.   Just food for thought.  That base engine rating is a good choice.

John, I can't speak for Ken, but basically I don't have a problem with the post covering a lot of topics. But I still will offer this suggestion, that you post items in the appropriate category. The reason being that after a post has been active for a while, some of us may read the opening line and think " Oh, I read most of that, and not see that other areas are addressed. Some times this occurs in a lot of posts but in order to insure the questions get read, if I was doing it, I'd post in all the categories I'm working in. It'll also get your post totals up, which at times seems to be a goal of many. (LOL). By the way, your still typing just as much!
