Vette(s): 1980 L82 Midnight Blue
Hi everyone. I was considering installing glass packs on my 1980 vette, but thought I would check here for any advice good or bad. Does anyone know of any potential problems with doing this? Thanks!

Can you legally get rid of your stock exhaust sytem and go to a true dual setup? Went from a stock system in my '76 to a true dual system from Mid-America and what a HUGE difference was noted in performance. As far as just the glass pax go...I'm sure any muffler shop can fix you up. GOOD LUCK

I just remove from the cat back, in one piece the Y pipe and the 2 mufflers as as one unit....4 bolts on the cat, 2 bolts on the hanger next to cat, those can be nasty, and the 2 hanger clamps.....I store it in the shed and put them back on when I go thru inspection once a year. I have the Monza dual tip glass packs or at least thats what they look like to me. they look like a smaller version of the old cherry bomb glass packs. Nice sound for sure. I went to stainless bolts on all and can do the change out in about 1 hour. If they never been off they come hard or not at all. I just grind them off and put new stainless ones on....finish, no rust.......I would think the 80 would pretty much sound the same as mine.

I think it would be loud. If that's what you want then try it out. If you want loud with an aggressive tone I'd put Flowmaster 40s on. If you want to hear that email me and I'll dig up a video clip of it for ya.... only thing is I have true duals... don't know how much difference that would make.
