I got the car dyno'ed at C3X the other day. Very cool.
I was a little disappointed at the numbers. But now I know what I have to do to get the numbers up to my expectations.
278 hp at the rear wheels = about 350 hp gross
308 lb.ft. " " " " = " 380 lb.ft gross
According to the dyno guy I was dangerously lean. 14.7 A/F ratio straight across the graph.
Should be around 12.8 A/F ratio.
But one # we were pleased with was the top end.
153.3 mph at 6000 rpm's on the dyno.
I've had the car up to 5500 rpms on the road, and I know it will pull to 6000 easily. But it gets a little to hairy for me. So for now I will have to change my engine figures in my sig pic. With fuel injection I should be able to hit my mark.

Yea sounds alot like the results I got when I got my vette dynoed at a hotrod shop by me. The first pull was so bad, it got 142 rwhp. I let them dyno tune it and they gutted my oem distributor and put better weights and vac advance. Also they changed the carb to 750 cfm edelbrock as opposed to 600cfm. also regapped the plugs and did alot of tuning to my carb. Now it has 313 rwhp with a 700r4 trans and 3.55 gears. It was costly for their labor charges, but I would have no idea how to tune that power out of my engine. My combo is trickflow aluminum heads with a 270 magnum comp cam. 10.3 compression, roller rockers, 750 cfm edelbrock carb. 357 cid. (.040 bore out)
The last time I had mine on the dyno I was a little disappointed in my results also. I pulled 252 RWHP and 300 RWTQ. I have since done some tuneup work like mentioned above. I put softer springs in and set the timing up some. Adjusted the stumble out of the carb. It does feel a bit more lively now.
Got any pics you can share??

When I get caught up here at home I will gladly share pics. It takes me awhile to figure out how to set up pics. Definitely not computer savy. lol

Hey Tumarr. So you got 171 more horse just from a carb change and tuning? That would be really awesome.

Sounds great.
I'm thinking of doing a dyno on my vette sometime. See what my vette can do.

It wasnt just a carb change. The power was there in the engine, its just that every thing was soo badly out of tune that the engine was struggling to just run. My a/f was sky high and the engine had badly lashed rocker arms. It all added up to major power loss. Basically if I messed with it myself I could have done better, but what I did was dropped it in the car, fired her up broke in the cam and took her for a spin and then limped to the hotrod shop a few miles from my house. They did the rest..."Dyno pulls" cost around $60-$80 but they don't touch your engine they just strap it in and revv it and you get a reading. Dyno tuning cost around $120 an hour. They did mine in 3 hours after several pulls.

Well you just gotta call around and look for performance shops, hot rod shops. Yellow pages is a good place to look in your local area, or call the nearest dragstrip and ask if they can point you in the right direction. I am blessed with living in a area where performance shops are numerous. No- most mechanic shops do not have a chassis dyno.
