Hi Listers
I am putting together my 68 327/350 engine and need to know if these had a bolt holding on the harmonic balancer? (the crankshaft is threaded) If so how long and does the bolt go in after the lower pulley is mounted ? ANy help will be apreciated..

There is a tool for installing the balancer. You might be able to get it as a loner from Autozone or one of the other chains. Basically, you thread a screw into the crank nose and a threaded collar is tightend to push the balancer on the crank. Before you install it put a little lithum grease on the outside where it goes into the seal. Also, be sure you don't force the key out as you install it or you will have to start over. You will know when it is fully engaged, as it will stop sliding in with pressure. The tool takes your full attention for proper use. Remove the installation tool and put your crank pulley on followed by the washer and bolt.

MTD1960,
The Crankshaft bolt is 2 and 1/4 inches long and is a 7/16 fine thread (2.5 inch length bolt will work also). Make sure you get a grade 8 bolt.
The factory washer is 7/16" thick steel. Most people use three 7/16 FENDER washers as a substitute. All bolts and washer are available at Ace Hardware.
Once you install the balancer with an installation tool (As Red stated in the last post), Put a dab of removable threadlocker on the bolt threads and tighten to 50-60 foot lbs. That should have you set to go.
EDIT:// After you have installed the lower pully on the balancer, install the retaining bolt.

You may also want to check the shaft on the balancer for a groove worn in it. This is fairly common and a source for a leak. Most parts suppliers sell a repair sleeve to slip over the shaft for a smooth surface at the seal. They are very inexpensive.
