I recently found that my right exhaust was cracked and beyond repair. My mech recommened that put headers on it rather that spend $500 just for the part. Anyone got any leads for quality headers at a decent price. Thanks for the input.

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.

Suggestion, since I've been out to look at the Jet-Hot site on the web...get pricing for the headers you want from whatever source you please. Then contact Jet-Hot and get them to quote you the same header coated with whatever finish you want (shiny or not). I think once you take a look at their work, you'll consider them...I know I am!

You should watch eBay, I see exhaust manifolds listed all the time. They usually go for less than $100 each. If you decide to go with headers, be sure to include the cost of having your existing system modified to accept the headers, or the cost of replacing your exhaust. You won't be disappointed at the power gains that headers and a free flowing exhaust will give you. Ceramic coating is recommended, as it reduces temps up to 60%, makes the headers last much longer, and looks great!

I put headers on lastyear.I tried the Summit brand but they will
not fit Hooker brand exhaust. To be honest I was very disapointed
with the total fit of the Hooker exhaust system. However the
Hooker headers fit great. For around $150.00 the price is right.
Summit brand was around$80.00 but a thinner wall tube is used.
I HAVE USED THE DYNOMAX ON MY LAST TWO CORVETTES.THEY ARE CERAMIC COATED BY JET HOT AND AVAILABLE AT SUMMIT RACING FOR ABOUT $230.YOU CANT BEAT THEM FOR THE PRICE.ALSO THEY FIT WITH NO MODS
If you decide to go with tubular headers, you will save money by buying them already coated. Jet-Hot is a first class outfit, but the cost of having them coat your headers vs. buying them already coated can be substantial. The header manufacturers get quantity discounts due to the volumn of parts they have ceramic coated, so they can pass on the savings if you buy them already coated. And many of the header manufacturers use Jet-Hot to do their coating. Hope this helps.
