Topic: HELP! I need PIX...FINAL SOLUTION!!
in Forum: C3 Engines
The bottom of the upper mount in the pic above appears to be mounted to the water pump. Mine is to a bolt hole in the head. The bottom mount has two bolts in the head at the base of the head and the upper bracket is bolted into an upper hole in the head.
I'll take a look tonight and see what would happen if we moved it to the water pump.
Thanks,
Definitely move it to the top water pump mounting bolt. Here's the diagram....
I'll have to take the pics tomorrow after I figure out where the wife put the camera... I promise they'll be here tomorrow night. I really like the look of the Billet Bracket.

Here you go Dennis, I hope these help. I have attached links to three pics. One is of my alternator mount taken from the passengers side. The other two are from the factory assembly manual. One of them is marked "cancelled" and I think is for the same setup that mkapp posted above. The other is for the bracket I have on my 82 showing the mounting bolts and attachment points for the upper alt bracket.
We thought from the beginning she was hit in the nose, most probably on the passenger side. I now am beginning to suspect that when the body work was put on, it was not mounted correctly. There is a major crack on the inner fender up by the radiator that we found when we got all the A/C stuff out.
I guess it's possible that they either put the body down too low, or screwed up the motor mounts or the frame when straightening.
That said, After I see Jim's pic's I am going to most likely order the Billet setup from Billet Specialties. It looks like the best, though not the cheapest, solution.
I really appreciate the time and pix from you guys.
Thanks,

Thanks for the pix! That is definitely different from the setup Billet Specialties has. Theirs is slung under and bites around the fender side of the alternator.
I found March Performance on the web so now it's decision time.
I do like the clevis rod setup for tightening, it looks really cool.
Thanks again for taking the time, man.
