Vette(s): 1973 white convertible 4 speed L82

I purchased the 1973 vette this winter and finally getting around to working on it.  I don't have the original build documentation and am not sure what was originally attached to the brackets shown in the picture. Any help would be appreciated.

Also - if I remove them, do I need to be concerned with bolt lengths or torque?

Vette(s): 1981 Blue Ice Met. w/pearl ghost flames TKO500 5speed. LS1 Swap 3.45 Dana 44.

The one with the hole next to the upper radiator hose is for lifting the engine. There should be one diagonally across from it at the back of the engine.

The other bracket looks like it's for a A.I.R. pump.

I believe Sarge has it correct, and yes, you do need to be very concerned about the bolt length when you remove those parts and replace the bolts.

Vette(s): 1960 (got wiped out in the Rapid City flood of 72), 1968 roadster(sold it so I could buy the 71), 1971 Coupe Chromed almost everything underneath. Had it since "76"

I belive that is for the A/C compressor. You have three grooves on the water pump pully that would align up with the compressor pulley.Your A.I.R. pump should be down by the fuel pump.

If it's not painted, Chrome it!!!

At least on my 78s that upper bracket is the A.I.R. pump bracket. Identical to the pic. Took it off of the 79.  Mike

You are so right, I went and looked it up in the parts book and it is for a A.I.R. pump. I should look before I put foot in mouth.

The bracket on the pass. side is absolutely for the smog pump, and if you look you will find a part# on it.(#3923214 BB GMP) The bracket on the driver side is the engine lift bracket put on @ Flint to ship & install the engine, and there should be one on the pass. side rear, bolted to the back of the head, or the intake.

By the looks of the picture,I didn't see any A.C. hoses, and it's rare for a rag-top to have it,but not impossible, because some did. 1.it is probably for the A.I.R. pump. 2.are there any block off plugs in the exhaust manifolds ,where the lines used to go ?3.is it the original engine ?
