Hi guys,
I'm selfishly curious if the Comp Cams 282S cam I plan to use will produce enough vacuum to adequately operate the power brakes and headlights on my car (catalog says "marginal"), but also thought the responses to this post might help a lot of people pin down the approximate threshold beyond which the vacuum is too low for these operations. So... if you guys with big cams wouldn't mind posting the part # and duration of your cams and whether or not vacuum is sufficient for PB and headlights, this tread may turn out to be a good resource for many. I'll start with an example using the cam I was running up until recently. Not a real big cam, but just an example:
Lunati Voodoo 60102
Advertised: 262/268
at .050: 219/227
Vacuum is more than plenty for accessories, around 19psi
Yeah, I know there are other factors involved other than just cam duration, but I'm trying to keep it simple and determine a "ballpark" of when cams become too big for useful vacuum.
Thanks for participating!

Vacuum won't really become an issue until the duration numbers get close to 300`. Anything over 270`/280` is gonna be a problem, with all of the vac. a Shark uses. Anything over 300`, there ain't gonna be any vac at all to operate much of anything.
