Could somebody help me with achieving a better spark to my engine?

I have recently rebuild the Rchstr. Q-jet and the fuel delivery system is up and ready. Problem,,,I am getting a weak spark to the new plugs especially on #2 so I have decided to install new wires, plugs, dist cap, and rotor. I'm thinking the tune up kit on page 112 of Ecklers will possibly be all I need.
In your opinion would this system deliver the spark I need for a decent running L-82.
I'm looking for performance in the smooth running category only.  I have no interest in speed and noise.
My car will run great for a while and then the engine will start missing.

I would like some comments before I start ordering parts.

Thanks ...Rich

P.S... Has anybody used the Delco Rapid Fire spark plugs?

If it runs good for a while and then starts skipping I would ensure that the wires are not grounding out against each other, the exhaust manifold or headers. Unless you are pumping oil into the combustion chamber and fouling plugs I am not sure of any other causes. what do the plugs look like when you pull them? The appearance of the plugs can tell a lot about the problem.

Could be your coils taken a dump,I don't know if that is in the tune up kit you are looking at,you can get these parts localy at any parts house ,I go to advance auto, they'll even check your coil on their machine and tell you if its working right, same thing with the module it could be that too Thumbs%20Up I use stock R44TS's,no problem,if you do have to get new parts go A.C.Delco,keep your G.M. all G.M.Thumbs%20UpRon 782007-04-09 17:46:59

Old plugs were fouled with blk. soot...Q-jet was a mess. Got that fixed and new plugs are firing clean.

Before ordering , I might check the routing of plug wires and make sure retainers are used and wires are clearing manifolds etc.

Coil check at parts store is a good idea...hadn't thought of that.

I agree with the coil dump.  Most of the time the coil just gives out without notice.  However, they have been known to throw off less voltage before taking a dive.

The ign. module can also cause these problems.
If you decide to replace the coil, make sure the replacement has the same color wires on it, There are a few different ones, and the wire color is the identifying key.

This is a phantom problem. Right now my time is limited.

If I don't have it solved this time, I'll probably go with a new system.

Scott, I didn't have time to get the coil checked..but I will. My job runs hot and cold on time.
