Do you want simple bolt-on modifications or do you want to do more like having internal engine mods made?
New intake, carb rebuild and a true dual exhaust can go a long way without major expense or work. Headers can help if you want to do that.
Cylinder head work, camshaft, etc., can yield much more performance but is much more involved and expensive. Not so much the price of the parts but the shop time and labor can be a killer.

[QUOTE=darrdco] I am seaking advice. I want to increase the horsepower on my 1976 L48.
Do it all, I did & it works... its only money...
What is the best "bang for the buck"? Cam, Headers, intake/carb, etc.

i was wondering how much extra (about) hp to expect when putting an edelbrock performance intake monifold , headers , edelbrock performance camshaft (and a holly carb ) on the car ?

that is way too vague to give you any figures.
also. is it really horsepower you are after or is it torque.
you can maximize one at the expense of the other and be disappointed.
also.. are you looking for a high peak (for bragging rights) or a good curve for true performance.
I already have true dual exhaust.
My goal is to have a head snaping good curve performance.
I am considering edelbrock dual quad intake and carbs.
Also a set of headers.
I would consider a cam, but not sure which one to get..
Anymore thoughts?

Original paint
True dual stainless exhaust
Edelbrock intake manifold
and Thunder series carb
Distributor has an pern upgrade
Last spring I replaced the stock intake, carb and air cleaner with an Edlebrock Performer intake, 650 cfm Thunder series carb, and an Edlebrock aircleaner that would still fit under my hood. It did wake it up. Then I drove 1700 miles to Pigeon Forge and back. I guess that broke in the new parts and blew out all the carb built up in the engine. Outran a C5 several weeks ago. Good luck.
