Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
I believe that you could turn up the HP by newer alum heads, roller lifters, hotter cam, and maybe a turbocharger. A few years before my son graduated from college, he worked at a hot rod shop, called Turbo Connection, where they installed turbochargers, and headers, etc etc. It was surprising how much HP they would get out of a previously stock engine....

If you are going to try doing bolt ons, don't make the mistake that most people make. Do not play mix and match unless you know what the heck you are doing. Your best bet is to go to the web site ( or call ) either Edelbrock or Comp Cams and talk to them. Tell them what you want to do with the car, VERY IMPORTATN ( like what type of driving you will be doing ). They sell complete setups that will work together and not against eachother. Off the top of my head, a cam and lifter set should run less than $200.00. If you are doing a small block, I would think the heads to match the cam will be less than $800.00 to a thousand. I think a good pair of Hookers run around $500.00 PLUS whatever exhaust you choose. An intake to match I would guess at less than $300.00. So what have you got there.....less than $2000.00 ? Good luck to ya. Just don't have your car running around with this

Heres what headed me in the right direction so far: CompCam 260H (yea I know, its kinda mild, but its sure got some bottom end torque!), Weiand "Action Plus" Dual Plane Intake, 2 1/2" Chambered Pipes from Mid-America (What a SWEET Sound), a rebuilt Q-Jet, and a recurve kit. Desk Dynos at 275 HP. "Seat of the Pants" feel tells me its at least that. About 750 invested.....what an awesome difference compared to stock. Heads and headers would be next for sure, but I kinda like it the way it is.........

'76 White Coupe, Auto, Compcam 260H, Weiand "Action Plus" Intake, 2 1/2" Chambered Pipes, Rebuilt Q-Jet, ReCurve Kit, 53K miles, White Leather Seats. "The Never Ending Battle In The Budget Based Quest For More HP & TQ."
