I'm kinda new to this. I need a new water pump on my '69 350. I'm hoping to find a rebuilt unit with a correct date code. I looked at one at O'Reilly's it had a date code of L1861. how does this decipher?
Thanks,
Matt

Hey, Matt.
The '69 smallblocks (all GM, not just Corvette) used only one water pump: GM casting # 3927170. The pump you looked at (L1861) was originally cast December 18, 1961. If it is a Corvette piece, it will carry GM # 3872609: smallblock water pump for a 1961 283 (all hp).
Hope this helps.
