How many numbers should be stamped on the passenger side of the block in front of the head. Mine has two, 1 that starts with a "K" and 1 that starts with a "T". When I mentioned this to a friend, he said there should only be one and maybe it had been restamped.
The number cast into the drivers side rear is 3970010 which is either a '69-302(Z28) or '69 to '80-350. I know its not the origional motor, but would like to know what it is. I'm probably going to pull the pan and count the mains.
If everyone else only has one number, than I've got something wierd.
Thanks guys.

I haven't tracked down the casting number yet, but the 67, 68 and 69 camaros all had two letters. For example the following are 1969 camaro codes. KC - 396 manual, KA - 396 manual, KE - 396 aluminum heads. Haven't found a KT yet. The 67 and 68 camaros don't have any codes that start with K.

OK, We're getting closer on this.
K0724TDT is what you want to concentrate on. K is the engine plant, which is St Catherines, Ontario (aka McKinnon Industries Canada). The 0724 would be the date, July 24th. The TDT is the engine code (horsepower/transmission description). Haven't found TDT yet. Its 1969 or newer, as three digit codes were started in 1969. So in conclusion, your engine code is a three digit code and not two. Will keep looking for the TDT.

I agree with CTHULHU. To decode it more we need the casting date off the block. Then we can tell what applicable year to match up the code.
I was checking: www.chevy-camaro.com/chevy-camaro-chevy-engine-suffix-codes.asp?group=12. It only listed the 1980 model.

the only valid combo between the casting number and engine code leaves us with a 1980 chevy truck motor with 4 bolts...
