A nut of one of the rockerarms of mu 350 CU 1972 Corvette is unscrewed unexpectedly. (gave a lot of noise!) I found out that also the other nuts are not that fast. I took the decision to check all valves. Following the procedure (Haynes and other manuals) I turned the nuts until I could not move the push rods anymore, than I gave the nut another 1/2 turn (all in piston in right TDC position)
After rotating the engine for some seconds most of the valves showed some lash again. Is that normal?
Do I have to repeat the adjustment several times until all lash has gone?? If yes, how many times?

Another burning question: How can I prevent the nuts of the rocker arms to get loose again?

Please give your reply by the forum or by mail cagroeneweg@zeelandnet.nl

Thanks for your help

The nuts should be lock nuts and do not loosen up. The studs are pressed in the block and have been know to pull out under high RPM's if you have a higher lift cam than stock. You may want to check them, (I had this happen when I put my cam in and still had the stock heads). You do not have to go through them more than once if you set them up correctly. Yes they sometimes feel like the are loose if you go back and check them again because there is no oil pressure in the lifters to keep them up.
