Is it burning or leaking...
How about valve stem seals, if it's only burning a little... that is a pretty easy fix. Have they ever been replaced?
No compression can also be a head gasket...

Guess I'm stuck with this engine for a while... Using Joel's numbers the engine is still good. So now gotta figure out what's not set up right.

As Joel said.. sounds like could be fuel or any combination of things. I had a piece of carbon get stuck between a sparkplug electrode once... drove me crazy trying to find the problem...
