You lucky dog! Will you have it done before the good weather starts?
I have to settle for a rebuild of what I got.
Good luck with it Jim.

Congrats,  I wanted to put the ZZ4 in mine, but I didn't want to change out the hood.  I will say, I have noticed a huge difference in the vehicle with my swap and I can only imagine what you will feel once changed out.  Again congrats and enjoy!

You mean it won't fit under a stock hood? I was led to believe it would...

BTW, does anyone know if the ZZ4 will fit under the hood?

Jim,

I got (2) different answers.  I was told due to the head heights it would not clear.  If you look on the Jeg's site for the ZZ4, I believe it also states that it does not.  I would check with Jeg's and Summit or whomever you are ordering it from.

I put a 1 1/4" drop base air cleaner to get my new motor in and it has a little play, NOT MUCH THOUGH! Less than 1 ".

I again would double check, but I am pretty sure the tech guys at Jeg's said no and I remember reading from their publication that it would not.  You might be able to configure someting, and also remember I am in a 81.
However, I think the hoods are the same.

Good luck Rick

Jim;

I'm running a slightly taller and I mean 2" or so intake and had to go to the edelbrock aftermarket triangle and then had to saw the base off.

I've been toying with the idea of the Stinger Hood Ecklers sells.  There are a couple around the city here and they look really cool.  Although, it would make it less of a sleeper.

For the 1980's, I believe the L-82 hood is taller than the L-48.
