Vette(s): 1969 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Just bought it from my uncle who owned it since 1971. Fathom green, green interior. 350/300, T400.
Need a little help selecting an aluminum intake. I have a '69 350, I'm looking for something that looks close to stock and that I can use my stock Q Jet and choke with, does such a beast exist?

Thanks,
Matt

I have an Edelbrock Performer intake on my '78. The stock Q-Jet works just fine with it. You have to be careful selecting an intake as it seems most on the market cause clearance problems with the stock hood on a Vette.

Bruce,
Does the stock choke setup (the rod, spring, and little metal box) all fasten to the intake correctly? is your intake a newer version or older?

Thanks,
Matt

My Performer is a newer model. About the only difference is Edelbrock redesigned the runners for faster mixture velocity. My car has a hot air choke, which the intake is equipped to handle or block off, depending on your carb setup.

I believe your choke is called a divorce style. I would think it should work, but you should contact Edelbrock (www.edelbrock.com) and ask them. I've found them to be very helpful and prompt with replies to questions.

I will say I've been very happy with the Performer intake. I wasn't trying to make max power with my car, just improved responsiveness and it did make for more felt power.

or you can make you life much easier and convert to elctric choke.. it will still look pretty plain.. all you do is add one wire and use a splice to join it to the pink "ignition-on" wire that comes though the firewall on the drivers side. then add a short ground wire to carb mounting bolt/stud

I usually add a relay for expansion purposes but if youre just adding an electric choke.. you wont need one.

I have the Weiand 8004. Has the choke pad and is maybe a 1/2" taller than stock. I have no hood clearance problems. The manifold is drilled to accept both spread bore and square bore carbs and has all the vacuum ports you'll need.

Did any one get a smallblock vette with a stock hood to fit a edelbrock performer rpm manifold? air gap?
what kind of air cleaner did you use?

the air gap rpm is a great manifold

but getting it to fit is another story

The performer is slightly shorter than the performer rpm. I have used the performer rpm with a holley 650. The air cleaner top just comes in contact with the underside of the hood. Don't slam it!
