I'm replacing the intake manifold on my 72 LT-1. What is the best way to seal the bolts so they won't weap oil? My year calls for washers under the bolts. Do you put the silcone sealer on the threads or up near the top of the bolt where is contacts the manifold? Also, my bolts have a natural finish with the "M" on the head. All the catalogs call for black bolts (zinc phosphate I think). What's on your similar year Vette? I know this is a small point, but if you don't do it right, oil leaks onto the manifold.

Seal the threaded part with Permatex Aviation Form a Gasket(Pt # 3H for a 4oz bottle w/applicator). Just a bit with the brush around the threads that will actually contact the threads in the head.
The bolts could be a black phosphate, or a natural steel. Just not "shiny".
