I was going to hold off on getting a paint job, but last month the paint shop was slow with work so I bit the bullet and had the car repainted. The car has been in the paint shop for a month!! This is my first time dealing with a repaint of a corvette. I guess this is typical? The car is almost finished. I will try to post some pictures of the new monza red paint

Car has been painted so now on to getting the Holley carb tuned. Drove car today and it still idles rough and is rough running at slow speeds. I am trying to understand the proper operation of the holley 4165 double pumper . the list number is L6213. I believe it is a 800cfm spread bore Usually when I start the engine cold, I pump the gas pedal twice and the engine starts up and idles around 1200/1500 rpm. This is the high idle postion. I can tap the gas pedal and the car idles down to around 800/900 rpm. Now I have to pump the gas pedal several times to start a cold engine and it does not go to a high idle rpm. Any thoughts? Thanks, Bob
Hello and Good afternoon from Dunedin,FL.
I have no idea what a "Quick Fuel Carb" is!! Do you have any info on this make of carb,Black Diamond or whatever...If you can send a picture would help as well..I know of Demon's,Holley's,Barry Grants,Edelbrock's and Q-Jets,and a couple of others..
My carb of choice is Edelbrock,Q-Jets,Barry Grants and Demons in that order of performance.Q-Jet is the all around best due to the smaller primaries and BIG secondaries an better economy..Edelbrocks because they perform better, albeit not as economic as a Q-Jet.. Again if you have info and send a picture would be great..
Have a great day...

I too have though about replacing my old original Holley with a Quick Fuel.
Rep69. I just finished watching a 13 minute video on you tube regarding the Quick Fuel carb.I was impressed with the carb being constructed with aluminum, however it is no different than the Holley with the exception it is much prettier and use the same internal gaskets power valves etc....It is a Circle track and drag strip carb as is the Holley carb, and as I have always said,if I am on a drag strip or racing I would definitely have a Holley as a normal aspirated engine carb, however if I was to drive the same car home I would change to a Q-Jet or Edelbrock that I rebuilt...Sorry to say the original statement by Edelbrock of "take it out of the box and it is ready to run" has lost a lot in the translation,as I have had to take apart several Edelbrocks straight from the factory to at least check the floats..Given this I still maintain that the Edelbrock is suoerior to the Holley and this new Quick Fuel is a Siamese twin to the Holley.Good luck in your quest for a good to great carb.Below is the you tube video I watched extolling the quality of the carb.. Quick Fuel Technology BDQ-950 Carb: A Close-Up Look
The carb in that video is for racing. Quick Fuel make carbs for street cars with electric chokes and vacuum secondaries. I look at them as a modernized, i.e., better Holley.
