Hi Gang, I was just looking at my build sheet yesterday trying to read some of the numbers on it. I have confirmed that my 74 has an L48 motor. Where can I find the specifications, ie; crank, cam, heads, hp?

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

Glen,
I thought it had something to do with the year also? I've been told the L48 has 165 for 1975, and it goes up to 195 by 1979 or 1980, but it was inbetween for other years...dunno what it was listed at for 74 though.

Scot,
The HP for your 74 is 195 HP. In 75 it dropped to 165HP, and slowly went back up. Mine is also 195 HP.

I will get the other info for you. My manuals are in the back garage, and I'll look at them later.

Glen,
I've got a 75, so an impressive 165 horses with an Auto tranny =) I didn't realize that the 1974 350 was also a L48 engine, thought that it was new for 1975 since they changed from leaded gasoline to regular unleaded, but I guess was wrong

Rick,
I have a couple dozen Vette books and none give anything for cam profiles, torque or compression. ( I would like to know my stock ratings also )
If anyone responds other than through the forum, would you let me know where they are getting the info from?
Thanks !

Rick, Scot, and Glenn,
When I bought my vette, I found some information somewhere on the internet. I think it amounted to calling chevrolet at a certain phone number, and giving them your VIN number, and they would send you a Specification manual free of charge, for your particular year of vette.
I did it 2years ago, and shortly thereafter I received the manual. I believe the phone number is 1-800-222-1020. That is chevrolet's factory service number, but I'm almost sure that was the number.
The manual I have has every spec imaginable included in it. It is in loose leaf form, and contains about 125-150 pages.
It is very much worth the effort of getting it.
Good Luck,
blk79

Please let me know if I sent the right information. Phone no. etc etc.

Thanks Glen. I'll have to give that a shot. I already bought a Comp X-Treme for thenew engine. Just curious how much difference there is between stock and the new one.
