What difference does LSA make on a cam?   I'm looking at a Comp Cams XE268H-14 with a 114* LSA to replace my XE262H-10 with a 110* LSA to ease tuning worries with a TPI system.  SO what effect does LSA have?

Thanks in advance,

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!

LSA is lobe seperation angle.

It how far apart the cam lobes peak.  With less angle, there is more valve overlap.  The greater the angle, the less overlap.

This has a big effect on the quality of idle, and the top end performance.   Lower angle and more overlap will create a lumpy idle, but allows for better breathing at highter rpm.  Greater angle works better at lower rpm.

But here is the catch.  The valve duration is just as important.  A greater angle can have just as much overlap with a longer duration.  It gets confusing I know.  There are many aspects of the cam design to consider, you can't go by one alone.  Lift also makes a difference.

Talk to the Comp cam tech line and they will help with the selection and give recommendations.   Voodoo cams also has a good tech assist line.
