What's the difference?
What is the exterior size difference between a SB and a BB?

okay
either im confused or you are.
short block/long block and small block/big block are two different animals
you can buy a bare block with nothing installed, a short block which is a complete bottom end (no heads), a long block which has heads but no intake, carb, or dist., or a complete engine which has everything.
here is a page with the definitons
http://www.hosac.freeserve.co.uk/Short%20&%20Long%20Block.htm
big block vs small block is a another issue, it is an issue of pure block size.. i think non-exotic chevy small blocks go from 260 to 400ci, a big block from 396 to 502
putting a big block in a small block vette could become a nightmare. ive never done so personally but you nearly have to gut the engine compartment and if you want to run any kind of decent(why would you put some pathetic super low rise on a BB?) intake you need a big block hood.

I threw two questions into the same thing, i know short block/long block is unrelated to small/big block. And now i even know what a short block is! While i was posting the first question the second occoured to me out of curiosity so I added it not deeming it worthy of a second post
Thanks
