Car stopped after running for an hour. Let it sit about 5 minutes and
it started back up. Thought I was out of gas so I put in a few bucks to
get home. Once home car stopped again. Checked the fuel pump, it works,
checked the spark off the coil, none. If I let it sit for a few minutes
it will run then stop after a few.
Any ideas on what could be wrong ? Mallory pro-master coil and Mallory distributer.

Electrical is really not my forte', but I'd check the connections and wiring at the starter first. I've had similar issues when a wire gets too close to a header which is easy to do because of the proximity.

Just for the heck of it, are you running a MSD 6a box?
I had the same thing happen to me, it would just stop running, then it would start back up again.
I found the wire connector that came with the unit was no good...(the kind that snap down) I used a good connector and that fixed it....but it took me all summer to find it.
Good luck,
Ken

Hmmm, 53 years old. single, no dating prospects and this guy suggests VIAGRA? What's a man to do?????????????????

Found out it was a filter of some sort. removed it and the car seems to
be running now ? I willl not go far from home right away. Did a
compression test because I am losing water somewhere? Everything seems
to be in range. All cyl are 155-160, except 5 and 6 which are 148. Does
this seem out of line.
If I have a cracked headinstead of a gasket would I notice it in the compression ?

Scott, you might do a pressure check on your radiator to see where you are losing water. If it is a cracked head or a bad gasket, it should show in either of the low cylenders or show up in the oil.
