Vette(s): 1979, Targa Blue (72 Color), Pace Car rear spoiler, L88 hood, Dark blue factory interior, 525HP 406, HD 700R4, 370 gears,Steeroids, composite rear spring, TT IIs wrapped in T/A Radials.
Well, its time for the 406 build up to start.
Pulled the intake and heads off of the baby today. Going to the speed shop to have some port matching and polishing done.

The bottom end consists of a low mileage 400 bore out to 406, deck and line honed. Eagle computer balanced, forged rotating assembly; comp cams roller cam, .540 lift with short duration to maintain some vacuum; edelbrock performer RPM heads and intake. Compression is 10.2:1. MSD 6AL with an MSD Pro Billet dist.

The combo should make between 525 and 550 HP and similar torque numbers. Woohoo - let's see what driveline parts we can break!!!

Fer now, sad state of affairs until the transplant is complete.
Have a look. UGH

BTW, selling a bunch of good parts:
LukesVette 2007-04-22 06:42:23
Mallory HEI distributor converted over to MSD (works like a magnetic trigger)
Trick Flow push rods
Edelbrock 600 CFM Carb and tuning kit - like new
327 short block - less than 5K on rebuild
2800 stall converter from TCI
Would love to dump all of these parts at once if anyone has a need - I'll make a great deal.
Paul

Got a good guy that does this cheap but you'd get killed with the shipping...
Project was a long time in the making. Found the block a year ago.
Then started Ebaying everything that wasn't nailed down (including the cat and the old lady!!!
) and generated enough funds to build this engine right - and as bullet proof as possible.

Can't wait til it goes in - Early June.

A 406 pushing 500+ hp... you should have no problem breaking stuff.

That thing is going to make your 327 seem like 4 banger in comparison.
Very cool.

Right you are Darryl!! and now I just found out that my Edelbrock Performer RPM heads will not breathe enough without some major work for this motor, so.....just what I needed. Spend more money!!
Brodix heads on the way....

Also, if anyones interested, these heads are in great shape and have less than 4K miles on them. $650 for the pair. That's about a $400 discount.
