I was just wondering if anyone has any experience or any information regarding LS-series swaps into C3 corvettes.  I'm thinking about swapping an LS2 (or LS3 when it becomes available) into my car and then using either a supercharger or twin turbo setup to reach my goal for the car.

I'm looking for any information on this subject that i can find, since I don't plan to start for a couple years anyway, especially now that I just bought a new STi.  I just want to get a general idea of what is going to be required and how much trouble it might end up being, along with a general idea about cost.  Keep in mind that the majority of the work, I won't be able to do myself.  Any kind of advice, information, or experience is welcome.

We do have one member here who I know has done this. His car has been featured in a magazine.  Actually was parked next to the car in Effingham.

Hopefully he'll tell us about it. It's actually a pretty interesting process.

I know it's been done, but I really don't know all the headaches that had to be resolved...electronics, etc. It has to make for outstanding performance.

Since you plan on waiting a couple of years, that will give plenty of time for others to do it and work out the procedures. By that time, there may even be some books published on the swap to make it even easier for you.

Also, by that time, the LS crate engines may be more available...they seem to be in somewhat short supply right now due to the demand. GM should have production ramped up to more fully meet demand by then, not to mention specialty engine builders who can have their own versions available by then.

Eddie 70 has done this, I think, and has it running/driving. Maybe he'll see this and give his thoughts...

Also, I found This...it might be of some use for info, too.

LS2 crate engines are available from GM for about 6 grand...and there is a reference guide available from GM that walks you through adapting LS1/LS2 engines to older cars with what GM says is "minimal guesswork."  However, rather than just walk into a custom shop and hand the engine and the book over to whoever's building the car, I would really like to spend a couple years formulating a plan and either talking directly to someone that's been there and has personal experience to relate, or reading some articles and looking at examples.  Since I'm planning on further modifying the engine, I'm also looking for examples of forced induction LS2s that are making 600-700 horsepower.  I want to know what I'm getting myself in to.

Stingray406SB,
What size agency do you work for? Federal, State, or local police? Are you new to LE?

Scott,

Right now, none of the above, and I would say I'm brand new to civilian law enforcement.  I've been a military police officer for two years, and on the civilian side, I had just finished an internship with a local police department (along with my degree), and had a job lined up when I was deployed.  Now I'm here in Baghdad until May of 2008.

OH Man, sorry mike, assuming there is no such place as Baghdad, North Dakota, that sure stinks being half way around the world from where the vette is parked. We appreciate your service bro. Hopefully our Governments can fix something solid over there so you folks can come home permanently. Watch out for yourself and come home safe. In the mean time, we'll keep all you folks in our prayers Thumbs%20Up.
