Vette(s): ' 76 Customized .Mid year rear window ( ' 67 style ). It has an '80 nose,'80 rear bumper , and a 76 hood . Also , I squeezed in a ' 94 Vette LT1 . Paint is a custom mixed BLACK with RED PEARL mixed in !
As you all know, I put  a '94 LT1 in my ' 76 . Well, up until now, it's been running like a charm . Today, out of no where , it started stalling . I'd come to light , the tach would start to jump all over the place and , nightie night ! It started , but not right up . Also wanted to stall as I was driving .
A few months back, I had the injectors replaced as they were clogged due to the engine just sitting . As I said, it's been running great , until now .
I haven't checked for any error codes yet . I wanted to run it by you guys, as maybe it has happened to someone else .
As usual, any help is appreciated !

Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.
not much of a wrench head here but some of the things that are easy to over look are:  Change where you purchased gas, maybe water in tank.  lose ground  I know soon some one with the knowledge will help you out, my advise will cause more damage than good. good luck

OH MAN....a can of worms, huh?

Where do you start? Dirty MAS? Clogged fuel filter? Electronic ignition module? etc.........etc........etc

Check for trouble codes first....that will lead you in a specific direction, at least. If not, then I would start with fuel pressure, then spark. Can o worms indeed! We need more info to get started diagnosing the electronic stuff.
The tach jumping around might lead to a loose connection, or a failing ign. module, or...horrors...the opti-spark system...

If it's that opti-spark monster, I'll torch that car !! Censored I changed that before the car hit the road, which was , about, a year and a half now . The tach has been fine all this time . Even when the original engine was in , it behaved ! It pinned the guage then jumped around just before the engine died .
Other than this mystery, the engine runs great ! Shoot me now .... Wits%20End

My wife's 93 LT1 had the same symptoms.  Finally it just died, so I had it towed to our store.  I was going to show a friend how it didn't run, and it started right up.  SIGHHHH.  After some diagnosing I changed the igntion module, which fortunately is not in the Opti-Spark, and it has been fine for a couple of years.  The module was expensive, but the dealer fee to test it was more, so I just replaced it.

Well, after pulling the codes, I now know the problem . Unfortunately, it's the death code ! Opti is the root of the trouble . Angry I've replaced it before, so I'm well aware of the upcoming nightmare Wits%20End. I have one on order, as well as the water pump ( didn't want to take a chance Wink ) .

So, to all that commented and helped, many thanks Clap Thumbs%20Up ........

Most of the pain is in my wallet ! What I'd like to know is why it died with so few miles on it . I'd say, less than 3000 ! And , it was a new unit too .
