Hi guys.
i'm in the middle of an engine swap.
i'm looking for placement ideas of the cherry picker. since the nose is sooooo looong on our cars, we had to place the cherry picker more from the side to pull the motor and it came out fine.
but when i put the new motor in, does anyone have any suggestions on where would be the best place to go in from? the boom on the cherry picker won't allow us to go from the front unless we make an extension for it. (i'm afraid i'll smack up my new bumper anyway). is placement on the side the way to go? has anyone had any issues with this?
thanks guys!

FWIW: I had to pull and install the engine in my '68 from the side. Nose was too long to come in from the front. No problems, but it was a little spooky having a smallblock hanging momentarily over the fender.

Jeff,
I agree with Mike, from the side is pretty much the only way to go with our cars. I pulled my engine from the side, it was disconnected from the tranny.
I put the engine & trans back in as one piece. I removed the front tire, jacked up the car, and with a little muscle I was able to get it in as one unit fairly easily.
Good luck,
Anthony
You really have to go in from the side. It's much easier if you have the radiator out.
