One of my projects is to change the motor & transmission mounts while I have the top off the motor. With "the gathering " fast approching i almost procrastenated; but when I took the drivers side mount out; the rubber was totally seperated from the metal. I am glad I didn't put it off.

Good call.

Not a good feeling, is it! I'm so glad I have an early 79 before they switched over to the 85 mph unit. My friend has an 80 and he had the 140 mph conversion done. LOVES IT!

Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed
Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.
2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
I also recently (surprisingly) found that one of my motor mounts needed replacing. What's wrong with these things that they can't last 40 (or so) years?!

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
Funny how rubber in a land fill lasts a hundred years, but the rubber in a Vette lasts about 25 years

Had that problem once in another car I owned.....got on the gas a little too much and engine jumped up so bad it broke the distributor cap on the firewall....instant stop

I'm sure you broke that on the streets of NY city of few years ago.
I had that problem with a 69 340 Cuda 4speed so I just chained and bollted the mounts down.
