Vette(s): 1975 Stingray Nomad Wagon, with Daytona front, custom hood scoop, dual side vents; 420HP 350; Doug Nash 5 speed; 1980 rear end W/4:11 gears; Cherry Red metallic paint.
My first Vette is being shipped to me as we speak, it was a project car for a Corvette Repair tech for 20 years. What is bothering me is that years ago, he rebuilt and highly modified the engine (350=420 hp). Since it was installed, he put very low mileage on it, but did start and let it idle often, kinda show car style. Other than changing all the fluids, is there anything that i should do before I start my cruising in it?
Thanks! |cheers| Dave.

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!
Either use a manual oiler to build oil pressure before you start it, or disable the ingnition and crank the car for not more that 15 seconds at a time, until you get oil all the way through the engine. Let is sit a minute between cranking to allow the starter to cool. You may want to remove the spark plugs and put an ounce or so of oil in each cylinder before you crank it at all. Once started, take it easy on it the first few miles.

Vette(s): Silver 1979 with black leather. L48 350 with 4 spd. 94,000 miles on clock when I got her. Numbers matching.
great info from kstyer. I started my 79 after sitting in a shed for 5 years. I removed the plugs and put a little RISLONE(light oil)in each cylinder, changed the oil and filled and replaced the filter. Fresh gas and filter were put in and the fuel lines flushed out. A new cap and rotor installed with new wires. I cranked the motor with the plugs out until I got oil pressure and then put in the plugs. The engine started with little smoke and no engine noise. It runs great and does not use a drop of oil.
GOOD LUCK |thumb| |cheers| |saluteflag|
