I have the complete MSD set-up on my '81. It was an important part of the project to completely eliminate the ECM that was integrated with the stock ignition system (and car, and exhaust, etc.). I have the 6A High Spark box mounted inside the driver side fender, near the vent and out of sight. My goal was to maintain as much of a stock look as possible. The only hint is that you can see the red MSD distributor cap under the black ignistion shielding.
I had a lot of other work done at the same time, so I can't attribute any specific performance improvements to the MSD system, but the car starts right up and idles nicely. I did notice, however, that the car runs best if I let it warm up for a few minutes when it's cold. If I don't, it tends to run a little rough.

Thanks for the education guys. I've been considering going that route myself.

Just recently, mine started acting up, so I pulled her, brought it to a ignitiion dude in New Orleans and the mechanical advance had locked up, go figure.
He took it apart, cleaned, lubed and reset the curve and all is well again, so you never know.
The thing worked well with no issues for 5 years!

Love the quick starting and cleaner burn in my 76 with the MSD.
