Hi Vetters
I need some input, i have just purchased a 76 Vette and both of the mufflers need replacing at the moment i am not in a position to replace the whole system including headers, but want to get some better mufflers than the originals(so i get a better sound and more power), i have been looking at a company called Eckers and they have basically 3 to choose from one is the original type which i do not want, one is a Borla muffler which i cannot afford,$600 for a pair, and the other ones are a perfomance muffler at around $250 a pair all of them have twin pipes so i will end up with 4 tailpipes out of the back (not sure if i like that)I have seen on other Vettes large bore mufflers which look neeat and must sound great, my dilema is are there more opions i could choose from and do i sacrifice sound for performance ?.
Note i shall be attaching them to the original exhaust system (if i can).
ANy thoughts on this would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks
Gary

Try any of the links above or corvette central, or midamerica for mufflers. Also im Ken Styler(kyster) and I'll bet he can answer your question. Also keep looking at the other forums for your answer. sorry I can't but hope these help you some.

Last fall I replaced the entire exhaust system on my '78 with a true dual exhaust system from Corvette Central. The parts are all aluminized steel and cost about $271. The system installed easily and has a great sound.
Admittedly, my car has its cast iron manifolds and not headers, but you should be able to come up with good parts without busting your budget.

Flowmasters and Dynoflow are both a good muffler with low restiction and a good sound. Summit Racing and Jeg Racing have them. There are many choices to look at. Go back through the Emission, Fuel, and Exhaust catagory and you will see several different thread regarding mufflers and exhaust. There are several, so I didn't just list one.

Flowmasters were a little loud for us, so we put o MagnaFlow's and they were just right for us. Be careful of "resonance" it can be very annoying on road trips.
