I haope in in the right spot....  I developed a noise when the car is up to temp for a while.  Its a major whistling noise.  It sounds almost vacuum related.  Only work I've done this year was rebuild the carb (again).  Any thoughts?  It always happens in reverse, It occasionally happens in Drive.  Not too much in park..

At idle, or anytime?
Could still be a carb leak somewhere, an exhaust leak, or a vacuum leak...so many possibilities...

At idle or in motion.  Its not an exhaust leak.  I tried to track down the noise, I cant find it.  Dumb question Joel - The trans cant be making the noise, could it?

I have had the same problem.  I think that I have located the sourse.  It is the pipe that goes into the air cleaner from the A.I.R. Pump.  You got one of those correct??  Thats where my noise is coming from.  Not ALL the time either, thats what made it so hard to find.
Dan

Kev, I've never heard a trans make a "whistling" noise, but...this is your car we're talking about, so...
Dan might be onto something, too. I've have heard some smog stuff make weird noises that could be considered a whistle. The check valves(from the manifolds to the AIR pump) will do it for sure, if they are partially burnt out inside....
Have you tried changing the A/C-heat controls when the noise happens, to see if it changes?
Can you tell if the noise is inside the cabin, or outside under the hood?
